Wood Chewers
Have a horse that is always chewing on wood, whether it be the fence, the door, or part of his or her stable door? The solution If you rub a bar of soap over it, it becomes absolutely disgusting to them. It won’t hurt or harm them just makes it unappetizing.
Homemade Ice Packs
Pour Fairy Dish Soap into a heavy-duty
resealable plastic bag and freeze. Some soap brands do freeze so you need to
play around which does and which doesn’t After a few hours you’ll have a low cost, nontoxic,
reusable and fully flexible cold pack and If the bags leaks, just wash it off.
Reuse Wormer Syringes
Don’t throw out those used syringes. Give them a thorough washing and fill with apple sauce as a treat for your horse. Soon they should be eager to open their mouth willingly. No more battles with the wormer!
Keep Buckets Covered
Use mosquito netting or similar to cover feed buckets if they’ll be sitting out before feeding time. This is great for keeping flies out in the summer and mice out in the winter, while still allowing air flow. Good for also soaking beet pulp especially in warmer months
