Aug 2019 update
SOCK The annual SOCK show was hosted at Cheval Riding Club grounds 4th August this year making it more special as it was in its 10th year since it was formed back in 2009 , It was great to see Cheval Members help build the course and I think we can all agree the course and arenas looked fantastic which was built by Laura Carrick, The SOCK committee want to thank all the cheval members who helped on the course building evening, on the day of the show and those who contributed by sponsoring raffle prizes or team prizes, Cheval RC had provided the Club Grounds free of charge for this year’s SOCK Challenge where in previous years the charity had been charged a ground rental fee of €150 I think we can all agree going forward that this charge can be waived as the charity do tremendous work promoting SOCK ( Supporting Ovarian Cancer Knowledge ) over the years, A big well done to the winning team(s) on the day; Martin O Brien and the Girls (Laura Carrick, Denise Byrne & Maria Carrick) where this year’s 2019 SOCK Challenge Winners
A huge well done to the following Cheval Members who had a great week at the RDS:
Sandra Hannigan Sandra had a busy few days at the RDS with her beautiful horses, Yukon Frostie (Connemara’s) and her Young Irish Draught (Yukon Titanium ), both Sandra’s horses looked and performed great in seriously large classes, Frostie was ice white and looked in good form for his class as was Sandra’s draught in a very large in hand class of draughts, well done Sandra you where great and had a busy few days at Dublin Lorraine O Connor Barry Lorraine’s horse was in the RTR class along with some big named racing stars which their Ruby was in flying form and taught she was back on the Turf, she looked amazing and was ridden by Lorraine’s daughter Niamh who is well used to the showing scene, Niamh was our confirmation judge for our pre-festival this year , I see Ruby in full flight in her gallop and she looked to have thoroughly enjoyed it Christina Knowles Christina’s fabulous 4-year-old Connie Finn was placed 7th from a huge class of 30 what an achievement for this pretty 4-year-old and what a future this boy will have , He was ridden by P L Ferret on the day, I had a glimpse of this class , it was a large class and all the Pretty Connemara’s id happily take home, well done Christina I’m sure you are a proud mum Geraldine Teeling Geraldine who I know was working her socks of from the start of the year with aiming her beautiful 12-year-old coloured Cisco for Dublin 2019, I have to say both Geraldine and Cisco looked a picture on the day in what I can describe as class that I would not like to be judging such a hard class to pick from , Ger and Cisco where pulled in 9th in a class of 17 , well done to both Ger and Cisco Sue Byrne Sue is no stranger to RDS within the showing scene, this year back to defend themselves in the ribbons with her 8 year old coloured Billy and also competing in the same class as Geraldine, Billy looked superb he was well turned out and was loving ring 1s grass arena He took all in his quiet extended stride in trot and throwing some nice hoof flicking across the diagonal for his rider on the day Zoe Donohue , Billy rode and behaved well for the judge on the day, but as I mentioned it was such a hard class to judge Billy and Zoe where just unfortunately out of the ribbons
